Since the beginning of the Biden administration, China and U.S. Commerce Ministers have agreed to encourage forward trade and investment links in their first call.
According to a Chinese government statement, the Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met his counterpart Gina Raimondo on Thursday morning China time. According to the statement, the two 'changed views frankly and pragmatically on mutual issues and relevant concerns'.
The call was the third between senior officials in the past weeks following the direct meeting with Secretary of Trade Katherine Tai and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
