NEW YORK -- Interactive Brokers Group Inc plans to offer cryptocurrency trading within a few months through its broker group, the company's Chairman said on Wednesday.
Customers are asking for it and we expect to be ready by the end of the summer to offer it to them, Piper Sandler founder and chairman Thomas Peterffy said in a conference held by Interactive Brokers.
Peterffy did not say which cryptocurrencies would be available to trade, but the New York-based brokerage introduced bitcoin futures in December 2017.
The biggest hurdle to offer crypto-trade has been ensured that Interactive Brokers can keep its customers' digital coins safe, Peterffy added.
Think about it, how do you get 100% certain that no one will steal their coins even though they are untraceable?
