Chief Minister Among Five BJP Candidates to Be Elected Unopposed

In Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Pema Khandu and four other BJP candidates are poised to secure victory as MLAs without facing any opposition, as no other candidates have filed nominations from their respective assembly seats. The Chief Minister, seeking his fourth term as an MLA, expressed hope that additional seats might see unopposed victories by the deadline for withdrawal of candidature on March 30. The BJP has fielded candidates in all 60 Assembly seats, while opposition parties like Congress, National People's Party, NCP, and Peoples' Party of Arunachal have also nominated candidates for the upcoming polls.

The Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh, to be held on April 19, will see scrutiny of nomination papers on Thursday, with the counting of votes set for June 2. The Lok Sabha election results for Arunachal West and Arunachal East constituencies will be declared on June 4. The overwhelming dominance of the BJP in the previous polls, winning 41 Assembly seats in 2019 and both Lok Sabha seats, indicates a strong political presence in the state.

The BJP's success in ensuring unopposed victories for Chief Minister Khandu and other candidates reflects strategic political positioning. Arunachal Pradesh, amidst the upcoming elections, showcases a dynamic political landscape with various parties vying for influence in the state. With the BJP forming the first elected government in 2019 and continued support from prominent leaders like Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, the political landscape in the state remains significant on a national scale.
