Direct Flights Reconnect Broome to Singapore, Boosting Tourism and Trade

Jetstar Asia has announced the resumption of direct flights between Broome and Singapore, reconnecting Western Australia's north to the vibrant Southeast Asian hub. The seasonal service will commence on June 25th, offering two return flights per week until October 26th.

This route was previously launched in 2018 by Silk Air, but was discontinued due to a decline in overseas tourism spending. In 2022, Broome International Airport sought federal government support to reinstate the flights, facing the challenge of establishing permanent border services at the airport.

The new flights will connect Broome to Changi International Airport, expanding the hub's network to eight Australian cities. Tickets will be available for purchase today, with special one-way fares starting at $145. The flights are scheduled to resume in April 2024.

Western Australian Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti emphasized the significance of the new flight link, stating that it will enhance the state's aviation capacity and boost international tourism in the region. Broome International Airport CEO Craig Shaw expressed optimism that the direct flights will increase the town's accessibility and appeal as a visitor destination.

Jetstar Asia CEO John Simeone expressed gratitude for the collaboration with the state government and Broome International Airport, highlighting the exceptional travel experience the route will provide for visitors. He described Broome as an ideal destination for those seeking an unforgettable holiday, located just over four hours from Singapore.
